It depends entirely upon how well you have lean red and mastered ALL of the skills for riding a horse that is well-trained in each of the five basic gaits and responsive to your every body movement, including the most subtle hand and foot movements. This usually takes several years and requires a well-toned body, better a body on the light side or middle range of your BMI (body mass index). Several years training in Ballet or gymnastics can somewhat shorten the period of training for mastering the skills necessary for equestrian training and, eventually, jumping. THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS to jumping safely and competently.
its status is riding, jumping and dressage!
If you are comfortable doing 70 cm i say Go for it, its lots of fun to jump! As long as you know the horse can do it and that you are ready for it you should be fine. Having an instructor there will help allot.
I ride at an amazing barn that offers AMAZING jumping lessons. It is called Cedar Run Farms in Hampton, PA. You can get jumping lessons at most English riding barns, though.
showing, eventing, show-jumping or endurance-riding/ hacking!!
This is a Horse riding level question: Jumping References Another opinion: The only one that applies is 'legs'.
Show jumping ,also known as "stadium jumping" or "jumpers," is a member of a family of English riding equestrian events that also includes dressage, eventing, hunters and equitation. Jumping classes are commonly seen at horse shows throughout the world, including the Olympics.
What kind of shows... Jumping, Trekking just what they think about about it, im doing a speech on "Horse riding from the horses eye view"
She died in a horse riding accident while jumping. I think she diddnt realise she was jumping
Because of the way English saddles are made it makes for more contact between the horse and rider. The gaits of an English horse are different than the Western type. English riders trot not jog and canter instead of loping. The English rider will post at the trot or sometimes called the rising trot. The rider is up in the saddle with the horse's outside leg and shoulder. English riding is the safest way to jump fences and gives the horse and rider the freedom of movement needed to navigate a jumping course. When done correctly, English riding is beautiful to watch.
Most people start jumping after they canter in a English saddle. There is no age limit, it is when you are ready to jump. You usually start small and work your way up with the right horse/pony.
This is in my opinion: no, I would use a crop instead of spurs, are you riding English or western? please continue the discussion.
Before you can start jumping, you need to be able to control your horse at all speeds while just riding. before you start jumping, you should trot your horse over poles spaced about 10 feet or more feet apart to help your horse get used to adjusting its stride. when you do start jumping, you'll want to start out fairly low, like 1 foot, to get your horse used to it.
