Depending on the dosage, methadone can block the effects of opiates for up to 4-days. During this time, the methadone fills up the opiate receptors. When the receptors are filled with methadone, the opiates cannot stimulate the receptors, therefore blocking the effects of the opiates.

It takes a week or so depending on your weight and level of dependence.. The reason you can't get high on opiates while on methadone is because the methadone is so powerful and long lasting that it masks the effects of any other opiates you try to use..

It depends on the amount of methadone you last took. If the dose was over 100mg it can take over a week. If it is under 50mg's it usually takes about 3-4 days. This also depends on the individual and how fast their body metabolizes methadone.

actually, no time at all, you will feel other opiates on top depending on dosage. so the more methadone you take the less you'll feel the other opiates. i assume your question means "how long do i have to be clean before i get the same sensation i got when i first used", and if that's the case, not long, if you're *totally clean* a month will do.

Of all opiates, Methadone withdrawals take the longest. It could be anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks, depending on the amount you were taking and the length of time taking it. Stock up on Immodium, toilet paper, and gatorade. Rent some movies, and know it won't be forever and each day gets better.

You shouldn't feel high or have the cravings after taking methadone if you're on the right dosage. Methadone is an opiate blocker.

Can you take one methadone pill and one vicodin together?

If you want to, yes. But the methadone is a much more potent opiate than Vicodin. If you are taking an adequate dose of methadone, then it is likely that all your opiate receptors in your brain are full. That is, in fact, the point of taking methadone. If they are, then you probably won't "feel" anything from the Vicodin. If you are not taking an adequate dose of methadone, then the Vicodin will help with pain/opiate withdrawls/whatever you are taking it for. It is important to add that if you take the Vicodin with methadone, or any long acting/extended release opiate, that you are still increasing your chances of respiratory depression(the #1 risk of taking too many pain-killers or benzodiazopenes) EVEN IF you do not "feel" the effects from the Vicodin.

Can you take Fentanyl after taking methadone?

Yes you can. But it would be a waste for the most part. Methadone has blocking properties and will clog up your opiate receptors. Taking any opiate after Methadone is mostly useless. You will not feel any pleasurable effects from the other opiates. I have heard that taking other opiates with Methadone will help with pain, but that the euphoria of the opiate will not happen.

How soon can you take pain medication -opiates after taking methadone four days in a row?

Since Methadone has such a long halflife and is absorbed by fatty tissues inside the body, it could take a few days to a week to safely take an opiate and feel its effects. But since you've only been taking Methadone for four days, try waiting until you start to feel the onset of withdrawal. It could also depend on how many mgs a day you were taking. The higher the mg, the longer it will take for Methadone to clear out of your system.

Can your work stop you working cause you are on methadone I drive 10 ton forklifts?

No. Methadone is a very mild opiate in terms of its "high", that is why it is chosen by drug clinics to detox from opiates. As long as you are on a dose of methadone that is appropriate, you will not have to stop work or feel any major effects from methadone.

Does methadone have a opiate blocker in it?

Unlike actual opioid antagonists (such as naltrexone and naloxone), which bind to opioid receptors, preventing binding by opiates (thus, blocking opiates and their effects), methadone only partially blocks other opiates. Methadone is an opioid agonist, meaning that it binds with and activates opioid receptors. However, during the time that it occupies the opioid receptor, it competes with other opiates, and prevents them from binding. While, at a receptor level, this produces a partial "blocking" effect, the overall availability of methadone throughout the system would have to be significant enough to produce this effect everywhere in order to truly "block" other opiates. So, the short answer is: partially

Will you feel Dilaudid 24hours after taking methadone?

You will if you shoot 4 mg or more

Is methadone more helpful for joint pain then oxycodone?

It all depends. Everyone is different. I have heard people that have had success with both medications for pain. It is all up to the individual and their own preference. Methadone and Oxycodone are different types of opiate drugs. Methadone is a very long lasting opiate but will not have as intense of a euphoric effect, which helps many people who need to function while on a pain-killer. Oxycodone is a much shorter acting and intense opiate. You will feel a much more euphoric effect and "high" than from methadone, but you will need more of the medication (multiple doses in a day).

After taking 12 mg of Suboxone how long should you wait to take 20 mg of Methadone?

at least 24 hours I would say at least 24 hours. The longer you can wait, the more (and better) you will feel. I just switched over from Suboxone to Methadone 2 months ago & didnt really "feel" the methadone for about 3 days. I waited roughly 24 hours between doses because of all the "horror stories" I have heard, and I didnt get sick at all. Methadone and Suboxone are a strange thing when it comes to what to take first and vice versa. I was on 110milligrams of methadone and had to stop altogether without weaning because a broken down car. Nine days later I took 16mgs. of Suboxone at a new clinic and was deathly sick for two days. This is because methadone is a full opiate while Suboxone is a partial opiate. So if you take Suboxone and then Methadone, you will either feel the methadone or feel nothing(depending on your Suboxone dose) BUT if you take Methadone, especially for a long period of time, and then take Suboxone, God have mercy on you, it can throw you into AWS(Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) and its like a flu times 10 with insomnia

If you have opiates in your system can you take Suboxone?

The short answer is: It depends on the strength and amount and type of Opiate you are taking. If you are on Methadone you are in for a rough ride. If you are hooked on Vicodin, or hydrocodone you can start as soon as you feel a bit rough, that being said talk to a doctor or someone who has been in your situation.

Can you feel hydrocodone 24 hours after taking 10mg of methadone?

Yes depends how much o.c tho

What does snorting 10mg methadone feel like?

First off, snorting methadone is not a good idea. If your asking what it feels like, it will burn the crap out of your nose and will get stuck up there. All methadone pills expand when they are exposed to moisture and grow to about 1-2 times there original size. On top of this, snorting methadone is pointless because it is a slow acting and absorbing drug. It does not absorb quickly into the bloodstream like many other opiate pills. So snorting methadone will not get you any more "high" than if you take it orally. You will actually lose a lot of the medication and feel less of its effects due to it becoming stuck in your nose. and taking forever to absorb.

What are methadone's side effects?

It can cause some people to feel drowsy, dizzy, or light-headed. People taking methadone should not drive a car or operate machinery.
