Unless directed by your doctor ( for some unknown reason) to "hold it in", so-to-speak , one should always relieve themselves when the urge arises

.In normal digestive systems it is said 2 hour after a meal is optimal timing for B. M.'s. to occur in toned fully functional bodies. However some people have different circadian rhythms and it takes more than 2 hours for one's body to hint at it being elimination time. Some people go only once daily and are perfectly healthy- it is truly an individual idiosyncratic rhythm

That said not going in more than a day is not a good sign, no matter how long your body has done that.

As for medication taking and eating - it makes no difference whatsoever: the body must first digest the "pill" or liquid or process an injection If you figure it takes 20 minutes for a tablet to hit your stomach then gastric juices to break it down and then the medication is theoretically usable a bowel movement will not have any effect on the efficacy of the substance...and you can feel free to go!!

What eating disorders cause a change in bowel movement?

First of all, if you're concerned that you have an eating disorder, you may need to contact a doctor or psychiatrist, talk to your parents, or peers. Eating disorders are not healthy, and can do lots of long term damage to your body. To answer your question: All of the above, and much more. Any change in your diet, the frequency with which you eat, or even your environment (added stress from a new job, moving into a new house) can result in a change in your bowel movements. There is no perfect definition of a 'normal' bowel movement, and there are many factors which can cause changes in your bowel movements. However, if you're experiencing less than 3 bowel movements a week, or more than 3 watery bowel movements a day, you may need to contact a doctor.
