How long is a Stevens 311a shotgun and where are the serial numbers located and what are they worth and what years did they make them and are parts hard to find for them?
Here's a partial answer.. I bought a one new for $59.95 from a factory ad in Popular Mechanics magazine,in 1969. They were considered to be one of the cheapest on the market at that time. Mine does not have a recognizable serial number either. I hunted rabbit for many years and eventually cut the barrel to 20 inches for a home defense weapon.
I have confirmed that the shotgun is indeed a Stevens. Can anyone give me a date of manufacturer based on the above stamping numbers? Serial number lists are not available for Stevens guns, but if you will tell me exactly how the Stevens comapny name is written on the gun, I can give you a general time-period.
What year is a Stevens model 311 series h 12 gauge double barrel double trigger shotgun serial number D150178?
If it was manufactured after Dec 31, 1968, the serial number will be plainly marked on the receiver. There will be some numbers under the barrels, but they may serial numbers or just batch/lot numbers that will not help identify the date of manufacture. Serial numbers were not required on long arms in the US until 1969.
It would have to be on the receiver to comply with Federal Laws. But keep in mind that firearms did not require to have serial numbers on them until the "Gun Control Act of 1968". So if your firearm was manufactured prior to that year there was no requirement for it to have a serial number. Most firearms made prior to '68 do not have serial numbers. I know that there were model 58's around…

How do I find the age of a 410 single shot with marking on the right side j Stevens arms company chicopee falls mass us--made in us and on the left side Stevens the fully guaranteed single gun.?
Stevens j arms company only made one single shot shotgun which was the model 94 chambered 12, 16, 20, 28, .410 ga. They manufactured it from 1929-about 1940. They are notorious for not always placing a serial number on the frame, but some numbers can often be found if you take the shotgun down to the forarm. Exact age can be difficult to determine without serial numbers.
