Generally, unless complications arise, there is no "time out" after a root canal. The idea of "time out" may just revolve around how long it takes the local anasthetic to wear or. You could be very picky and consider "time out" as how long it takes for it to stop hurting or feeling different. This, in itself, can take between a few hours and around four days. If you still feel pain after a week, its probably best to go back to the dentist.

There is always variation from person to person, but it took me about 3 months to recover and regenerate bone in the hole left by the tooth extraction. I had my tooth implant (first molar) installed yesterday and will go back in 3 months to have the implant torque tested to see if it is strong enough to support the abutment and crown. The abutment and crown can go in essentially immediately after the torque testing if the implant passes the test. This time can vary if you are slow to regenerate bone. So about 6 months minimum and more if you need bone grafts.

Well, yes it will hurt for a couple of days. If your wondering on how long it takes for the other tooth to start poping through, that's just up to your body. Why dont you ask a doctor about that.

A bit more:

If it was a permanent tooth, then obviously there won't be another tooth growing back in its place. As for how long the pain and soreness lasts, having a bottom tooth pulled does tend to hurt a bit more than an upper tooth because the bottom area can't drain as easily as a top one can. But if you follow your dentist's instructions, then the actual pain shouldn't last more than a day, two at the most. And your dentist should give you something for the pain, but if he or she doesn't, then by all means, be sure to ask for something for the pain.

Sometimes it becomes inevitable to get a tooth extraction done. Be it due to tooth decay or any other dental problem, but a lot of people think that tooth extraction is very painful. When done in the right way and by expert dentists, tooth extraction is a rather simple procedure and almost painless. It is true that a slight amount of swelling and bleeding post the procedure is normal, but it goes away in a couple of days. People getting braces may need to get tooth extraction done to make room for the teeth being moved. There are various reasons in which tooth extraction may be required. The most common of them include – Tooth decay or damaged tooth Loose teeth When a tooth is unable to erupt from the gum

Recovery time varies, but generally: The pain goes away after a few days.

The gums heal around two weeks later. Full bone healing takes three months.

If you have all four of your wisdom teeth removed, and be completely unconscious during the surgery, you should recover in 3-4 days. This is the normal recovery time.
