Yes it can take some time from the filing of the initial I-129F alien fiance(e) petition at the CIS service center to the K-1 visa interview at the consulate/embassy. Generally though, the process is completed in 6-12 months depending on variables. Such as: If there is any name hits or security issues with the background/security checks, if there is delays caused by information and evidence submitted not being complete, and ultimately how long the individual consulate/embassy takes in scheduling interviews, etc. There is quite long wait times for interviews at certain consulates/embassies e.g. Philippines, Dominican Republic.
