Life expentancy would be determined by the vehicle maintenance process. A well maintained vehicle may expect the belt to last 60,000 - 100,000. Periodic inspections for cracks will prevent further damage if replaced once found to be in such condition.
If you have a Toyota only 40,000 miles!
that is impossable to answer. life of belt all depends on how much the engine is run
How long will it take to replace a belt tensioner unit and serpentine belt in a lexus 1996 sc300?
Just check every oil flush your serpentine. It could last a long time...and a short time. It depends on a lot of points: wheater, serpentine quality, bearings... When serpentine is about to fail, or, if it seems to be cracked, scratched or any other ...ed, just change it. The answer above is not from a supervisor or team member and should be disregarded. The correct answer would be 35,000 to 40,000 miles. Rule of thumb is 3 cracks per square inch.
Yes, as long as there is no damage to it
The serpentine belt is a long belt on the front of the engine. The belt goes over a number of pulleys and powers many things such as the alternator and power steering all at once. The twisting and turning through all of the pulleys like a snake is how it came to be called a serpentine belt.
If your talking long term storage, yes. Disconnect and remove the battery for long term storage.
Depending on quality it can last 5 years and more, but it's not guaranteed because the life span depends on in which conditions you usually drive.
About 20 minutes
I have seen on an Olds forum that the belt for the 86 olds 88 w/o a/c will work. It should be 75.5 in instead of 103 (the 1986 88 belt is 76.1 in)
get someone that knows what they are doing, to replace it the 2 long front engine mount bolts need to be removed to replace serpentine belt
It shouldn't take very long. All you have to do is find the automatic tensioner and loosen it to get the old belt off and put the new one on. Be sure to check the routing of the belt. The diagram should be on the underside of the hood.
