Look on bottom or rear of radiator
Start with removing the plate above the radiator. There should be about 4 bolts, 2 on either side. Also 5 or so bolts attaching the top part of the grill. Then everything should be able to be pulled straight up through this area.
The timing belt is not a belt on a Cherokee sport. It's a chain. It's located under a housing on the crank shaft. In order to replace it you will need to remove the alternator, the water pump, the a/c compressor, the radiator and the engine fans. An experienced mechanic can get it done in about 3 to 6 hours.
It is between the radiator and the grill.

On a Cherokee the thermostat is under the housing that the upper radiator hose hooks to. On a Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L it is under the lower hose attachment housing.
The cost to replace the oil pump on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport ranges from $300 and $500. Replacing the oil pump requires the oil pan to be removed.
You do not fix it you just replace it.
