How long should you wait to take out a tongue ring after you get your tongue pierced?

In your case, I suggest you don't take it out right after you pierced it.
It's different for different people. For me, I took it out in about a month and its already starting to close up in a day. So, i suggest you wait until it fully heals. (which is years....)

∙ 14y agowhen i got mine pierced it was swollen for a little over a week, but the worst was prolly day 2-5. it rele hurts to eat. i ate a bowl of ramon noodles the day after and it took me well over an hour.
if i were you i would get all the eating in while u can cuz it hurts to move ur tongue to swollow ur food and chew it up.
i didnt wait becuz i like to eat a lot lol, but i love the aftermath of my piercing!

∙ 14y agoThe majority of piercers advise an absolute minimum of 2-4 weeks depending on how well it's healed.
Remember if the piercing is left without jewellery it will close up incredibly quickly at this stage.

∙ 13y agoYou should probably wait about 5 months after the piercing. It may vary depending how fast your body heals. When I got my Naval pierced, I was suppose to wait 8 months to change it. I only wait about 2 and a half. You might get away with 3 :p

I have had my tongue ring for almost 10 years, and I have a small hard spot close to the tongue ring. I think it is just the tongues version of scar tissue. It hardens up to protect itself from the tongue ring being there. And I even have a round indention on the top of my tongue from the ball pushing down for so long. Hope this helps you!
