Raw pork ribs should not be allowed to sit at room temperature for more than 20 minutes. The ribs must either be kept cold enough to prevent the growth of bacteria or cooked to kill any germs that are present.

Do not thaw food at room temperature. No food professional will recommend that. Thaw them in the refrigerator or in the microwave. If you thaw them in the microwave, cook them immediately upon thawing.

Meat should never be left at room temperature to thaw as it spends too much time in the bacteria "danger zone". Best bet is to thaw for 24 hours in the fridge or put in a plastic ziptop bag, place that in a bowl and put under the faucet with slow running cool water into the bowl until thawed. Usually takes 15-30 minutes. Don't take chances with meats.
