You have to place them in an airless, airtight container like a ziplock bag with all the extra air squeezed out. If not, they absorb the humidity in the air and become stale and chewy instead of crunchy. They can last a good time just in a airtight snap lid container like a butter bowl.

∙ 15y agoYou can keep rice for a very long time. As long as you keep it dry it will keep. The rice will very slowly lose its hydration. So the older the rice, the drier it is. This only comes into play when you cook it. It can keep for years.
