At 2mp's for 1gb, your memory card can hold at least 1,500 pictures. I had a 4mp camera with a 512 and that card holds over 700 photos.
P.S. Why don't you start looking for another camera. the costs have come way down and an affordable camera costs about 175-300. If you would like a point-and-shoot camera, go with Canon. If you would like a lightweight ultra-telophoto zoom go with Kodak or Panasonic. If you would like a D-SLR go with Canon. There is a whole lot of stuff on the market, but you should probably upgrade from a 2 mega pixel camera to at least a 7 mega pixel camera and the results are incomparable and absolutely amazing. I shoot with 12.2 mega pixel and a 23.5 mega pixel, both make you feel like you are actually in the picture.
A camera with this pixel setting will have more room, but the images may not be as crisp as ones with a bigger pixel count. You can fit approximately 200 pictures of this kind on a 2 GB memory card.
The content of the picture and the "Quality" level you are using affects how many pictures a memory card will hold. A 1 GB card in a 6 MP camera will hold something like 450 pictures on medium quality and 225 pictures on high quality.
It is recommended with a camera that is this sharp you have a minimum of a 1 gigabyte memory card. On this card you can fit approximately 56 pictures depending on the lighting and subject involved.

The content of the picture and what "Quality" level you are using affects how many pictures a memory card will hold. A 2 GB card in a 7.2 MP camera will hold something like 800 pictures on medium quality and 400 pictures on high quality.
If your camera is at the highest settings probably about 8 pictures. If it's at standard or lower settings I would say about 16. You definitely go ahead and buy a higher capacity memory card if you can. A 4 GB memory card is fairly cheap now and would hold over 1100 7.2 mega-pixel photographs.
Approximately 600 images. I have a CANON 450D, my 2gb card holds about 330 images, and my 8gb card holds about 1600 images... so i can estimate that the 4gb card will hold about 600 images.
See the Question: How many pictures on 4GB memory card in 10.2 mega pixel digital camera?(How_many_pictures_on_4GB_memory_card_in_10.2_mega_pixel_digital_camera)
The higher the gigabyte capacity, the more the memory card can hold.
1GB MEMORY CARD CAN HOLD 150 TO 200 SNAP IN A 13.6 MEGA PIXEL CAMERA.
It depends on a lot of factors, but the basic Idea is that the lower the resolution and the higher the compression, the more pictures you will fit on the card; the reverse is obviosly true as well. So there is quite a large range depending on your particular camera. But it could be a range from around 300 - 15,500 pictures for the 2gb card and half that for the 1GB card. It really depends on your camera, and it's settings.
The data transfer rate of a Sandisk Compact Flash 8 GB memory card is 10/MB per second minimum. This memory card is geared towards serious photographers that take many pictures quickly.
