An extra disembarking his boat on D-Day.
They say the body count was 206.
Body count does not refer (in the movie world) to how many people ACTUALLY died, it's how many people were portrayed as dead (just acted like they were dead for the movie). If that many people died in the movie the filmmakers would be sued and that movie would not have been aired.
A lot-- there are numerous battle scenes, including the first scene of the landing on D-Day.
Of the party of main characters (Captain Miller and 7 men) who went to locate Pvt Ryan, only 2 survived.
About 60, with hundreds more added in by computer.
6 of the 8 squad members sent to search for him did not return.
As far as I have been able to determine, none of the actors in Saving Private Ryan died during filming.
6 men including Captain Miller

The movie Saving Private Ryan is a fictional WWII film, whose first battle scene occurs on June 6, 1944--D-Day.
The opening scene in the beach was shot in curracloe, wexford, Ireland
In the movie, Saving Private Ryan, there was NO German soldier with a dog. However, there is a reference to Dog Green Sector of Omaha Beach which is where the landing scene of the film "Saving Private Ryan" was set. There was also a scene when Miller's men are sorting American GI "dog tags". But no dog (animal).
Harrison Young as Ryan in present day (as an old man) .

The fact that he got shot! Otherwise the beach landing scene at the start and the sniper scene later are the two that stand out for me.
They were used to make "sticky bombs" to take the tracks of panzer tanks.
Upham is a coward. He finally takes action when it is much too late.
saving private Ryan has a gory start at the beginningthe film which is set in 1944 in france:)
Technically, yes, but no war film has ever reached the realism and intensity of the opening scene.
The scene takes place on the beaches of Normandy France, during Operation Overlord. Beach name was code named: Omaha.
