Millions, nearly 100 different types and species become extinct each day. Also, more animals have become extinct in human existence than in the entire history of the world. That's 1.6 billion years! Hundreds and hundreds of millions of years with actual animals.

Too many to count 1,000s 10,000s 100,000s

Alot of animals are extinct. I've been researching this for a writing project and havent found much. I found something but I'm not sure if its true, and it said that 900 species have gone extinct in the past 5 centuries(500 years). Lots of websites talk about extinct animals, but when they talk about how many, they say something like "It's hard to say how many animals are extinct, considering we haven't even discovered all animals on earth."

There are no solid numbers on how many species of animals have gone extinct, but there have been 5 mass extinctions in the history of the world. It is thought that thousands of species go extinct every year.

It is believed that there are about 900 extinct species of animals that once existed on earth. Unfortunately, this figure is only an estimate as human beings are limited by the species of animals of which they are aware.

Many animals are endangered because of human activity. There are actually trillions of species. 1% of all the animals are extinct and 99% are endangered. The examples of extinct animals are dinosaurs, dodo birds, sabe-tooth tiger, woolly mammoths, etc. The percentage of extinct animals are very slowly increasing because of hunting, habitat destruction, global warming, or loss of food.
