Alan Alexander Milne (pronounced /Ëmɪln/) (18 January 1882 - 31 January 1956) was an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowe…d all his previous work.. Literary career . 1903 to 1925 . After graduating from Cambridge in 1903, A. A. Milne contributed humorous verse and whimsical essays to the British humour magazine Punch , joining the staff in 1906 and becoming an assistant editor. . During this period he published 18 plays and 3 novels, including the murder mystery The Red House Mystery (1922). His son was born in August 1920 and in 1924 Milne produced a collection of children's poems When We Were Very Young , which were illustrated by Punch staff cartoonist E. H. Shepard. A collection of short stories for children Gallery of Children , and other stories that became part of the Winnie-the-Pooh books, were first published in 1925.. Looking back on this period (in 1926) Milne observed that when he told his agent that he was going to write a detective story, he was told that what the country wanted from a " Punch humorist" was a humorous story; when two years later he said he was writing nursery rhymes, his agent and publisher were convinced he should write another detective story; and after another two years he was being told that writing a detective story would be in the worst of taste given the demand for children's books. He concluded that "the only excuse which I have yet discovered for writing anything is that I want to write it; and I should be as proud to be delivered of a Telephone Directory con amore as I should be ashamed to create a Blank Verse Tragedy at the bidding of others." . 1926 to 1928 . The real stuffed toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne and featured in the Winnie-the-Pooh stories. They are on display in the Donnell Library Center in New York.. Milne is most famous for his two Pooh books about a boy named Christopher Robin, after his son, and various characters inspired by his son's stuffed animals, most notably the bear named Winnie-the-Pooh. Christopher Robin's bear, originally named "Edward", was renamed "Winnie-the-Pooh" after a Canadian black bear named Winnie (after Winnipeg), which was used as a military mascot in World War I, and left to London Zoo during the war. "The pooh" comes from a swan called "Pooh". E. H. Shepard illustrated the original Pooh books, using his own son's teddy, Growler ("a magnificent bear"), as the model. Christopher Robin Milne's own toys are now under glass in New York.. Winnie-the-Pooh was published in 1926, followed by The House at Pooh Corner in 1928. A second collection of nursery rhymes, Now We Are Six , was published in 1927. All three books were illustrated by E. H. Shepard. Milne also published four plays in this period. He also "gallantly stepped forward" to contribute a quarter of the costs of dramatising. 1929 onwards . The success of his children's books was to become a source of considerable annoyance to Milne, whose self-avowed aim was to write whatever he pleased and who had, until then, found a ready audience for each change of direction: he had freed pre-war Punch from its ponderous facetiousness; he had made a considerable reputation as a playwright (like his idol J. M. Barrie) on both sides of the Atlantic; he had produced a witty piece of detective writing in The Red House Mystery (although this was severely criticised by Raymond Chandler for the implausibility of its plot). But once Milne had, in his own words, "said goodbye to all that in 70,000 words" (the approximate length of his four principal children's books), he had no intention of producing any reworkings lacking in originality, given that one of the sources of inspiration, his son, was growing older.. His reception remained warmer in America than Britain, and he continued to publish novels and short stories, but by the late 1930s the audience for Milne's grown-up writing had largely vanished: he observed bitterly in his autobiography that a critic had said that the hero of his latest play ("God help it") was simply "Christopher Robin grown up...what an obsession with me children are become!".. Even his old literary home, Punch , where the When We Were Very Young verses had first appeared, was ultimately to reject him, as Christopher Milne details in his autobiography The Enchanted Places , although Methuen continued to publish whatever Milne wrote, including the long poem 'The Norman Church' and an assembly of articles entitled Year In, Year Out (which Milne likened to a benefit night for the author).. He also adapted Kenneth Grahame's novel The Wind in the Willows for the stage as Toad of Toad Hall . The title was an implicit admission that such chapters as Chapter 7, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", could not survive translation to the theatre. [ citation needed ] A special introduction written by Milne is included in some editions of Grahame's novel.. Several of Milne's children's poems were set to music by the composer Harold Fraser-Simson. His poems have been parodied many times, including with the books When We Were Rather Older and Now We Are Sixty .. After Milne's death, his widow sold the rights to the Pooh characters to the Walt Disney Company, which has made a number of Pooh cartoon movies, as well as a large amount of Pooh-related merchandise.. Royalties from the Pooh characters paid by Disney to the Royal Literary Fund, part-owner of the Pooh copyright, provide the income used to run the Fund's Fellowship Scheme, placing professional writers in U.K. universities. Tradition says that Moses wrote 5 books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. However, there is no claim as to authorship made within the books themselves. Modern scholars who support the Sources Theory say that the Pentateuch had several authors and was only written during the firs…t millennium BCE, a view that is also accepted by some Christians. After all, a late date for the Pentateuch does not undermine the message of the Bible. A: Traditionally, Moses is thought to have written the first five books of the Old Testament, known to Christians as the Pentateuch ( Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy ). However, it is the strong consensus of biblical scholars that Moses did not write any of the Old Testament, and that the scriptures only began to be written many centuries after the time attributed to Moses. On this evidence, Moses did not write any books. . ( Full Answer )

It should be noted (as many believe) that the only 'author' of theBible is God as is recorded in Exodus… 34:27 to Moses and 2 Timothy3:16 to the New Testament Church. Books attributed to 'writers' issimply them being inspired by God to record His message to allmankind. ( Full Answer )

mAH stands for milliamp-hours. It is a measure of the power capacity of a battery. If a battery has a mAH rating of, say, 480mAH, it means the battery can supply 480 milliamps for one hour, or 960 milliamps for a half-hour, or 240 milliamps for two hours, etc.

----------------------- The disciple Matthew did not write any books. The book now known as Matthew's Gospel was originally anonymous and was only attributed to the disciple whose name it now bears later in the second century, when the Church Fathers were attempting to establish who probably wrote… each of the New Testament gospels. Scholars say that Matthew could not have been written by an eyewitness to the mission of Jesus, not least because it can be shown that the author copied approximately 600 verses from Mark's Gospel and copied substantial sayings material from the hypothetical 'Q' document. For convenience, the unknown author continues to be known as Matthew, but this is not the Matthew portrayed in the gospel. ( Full Answer )

The 960 mAh battery rating is an eight-hour rating. This means you can expect eight hours of operation at 120 mA. Even though mAh means milli-ampere-hour, the rating is non-linear, and it is normalized to an eight-hour rating, so you should expect somewhat less than one hour of operation at 960 mA. … Keep in mind that this is a relativistic rating, intended to be used to compare similar batteries with different mAh ratings. Actual performance could vary . ( Full Answer )

It depends what you mean by "books". He published about three long poems, if you want to call those books. He wrote a bunch of short poems which someone else collected into a book. He wrote 38 plays, which were a sheaf of papers until other people came along and published them, at first one by one a…nd later, after his death, all but two collected in one volume. Was that one book or 36 books? Or are you asking whether he ever wrote something which he meant to have published in a book. The answer is, only the two poems Venus and Adonis and Rape of Lucrece. Shakespeare never wrote stories or novels. ( Full Answer )

There is a General Epistle of James, which identifies a James as the letter writer, but there are several James mentioned in the gospels and there is also the possibility that it comes from any one of innumerable James outside the gospels or was only written in the name of James. There are reason…s to believe that this epistle was not written by either James the brother of Jesus or James, the son of Zebedee. If either of these persons had been the author, one would expect him to mention the historical Jesus and perhaps even remind the reader of the teachings or miracles of Jesus. The Epistle mentions Jesus only once as an introduction to his belief and nowhere does it reference a historical Jesus. Similarly, James the brother of Jesus or James, the son of Zebedee, could be expected to have designated himself as such, if only to add weight to his message. Yet James 1:1 only describes James as a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, an improbable designation for someone so close to Jesus. Furthermore, the author looks to the Old Testament for his authority on moral issues, apparently unaware of Jesus' teachings on the same matters. Modern scholars say that the one book attributed to James is a forgery written much later to combat 'heretical' (gnostic) ideas within the early Church. Another Answer: Biblical Scholars who worked on the New King James Version (translation) are in consensus that the Book of James was written by James, the Head of the Jerusalem Church of God and the half-brother of Jesus. This is the only biblical writing associated with this James. There are several named 'James' and four are mentioned during Jesus' time: the brother of John and one of the 'sons of Zebedee; the son of Alphaeus called the 'Less or Younger' in Matthew 10:3; James the father of Judas in Luke 6:16; and James, the half-brother and of Jesus and author of the Book of James and Head of the Church of God at Jerusalem? In Acts 12:1-2 we can read of the son of Zebedee, James being 'beheaded.' He was the first of the Apostles martyred. Tradition holds that the half-brother of Jesus was thrown of a roof to his death in circa 62 AD after penning his writing. ( Full Answer )

The milli-amp-hours rating has nothing to do with the voltage. The rating should be something like 3000 mah at 12V or 3000 mah at 1.5V. One common 3000 mAh battery is 3.0 volts; another is 3.7 volts. A common camcorder battery is 7.4 volts. Some DeWalt tools use 12 V 3000 mAh batteries.

The concept of a "book" didn't actually exist when Virgil was alive. He composed poems to entertain Caesar Augustus, and he would've recited them out loud rather than write them down. His most major work is the epic poem The Aeneid, and he is also known for his georgics (poems about farming). Basic…ally the answer to your question just depends on how many different books of his are on Amazon, which can be complicated because there's a whole book of his georgics, and then other books that include his georgics and eclogues. Yes Adeline Yen Mah is an author, she wrote Chinese Cinderella and a couple other books.
Shakespeare did not write very many things with the intention of having them published. His narrative poems Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece were both printed by an old schoolmate from Stratford and contained effulgent testimonials to Shakespeare's patron who had helped financially to get th…e publication off the ground. These two poems were the only things Shakespeare clearly wrote with the intention that they should be read as books. Everything else he wrote was published by someone else, not infrequently without his permission and certainly never to his profit. He wrote sonnets which were intended for private distribution but ended up being published anyway. He also wrote plays which he intended that people should pay money to come and watch, rather than stay at home and read. Having people read the plays was contrary to his financial interest. Many of them (about half) were not published in any form until after his death. ( Full Answer )

First of all, I dont think Adeline Yen Mah hates her parents, there was a part in her book: "chinese cinderella" where she said that she still yearns her father's acceptance. Adeline's dad treated her like she was invisible. Her Niang or Mother would treat her like dirt, disciminating her from her f…riends, and even her half siblings. It is safe to say that Adeline was a neglected child. Once in her book, she was on a train( or was it an airplane) a steward/stewardess asked her if her parents were there to fill out something for her and she said yes. Later when her Niang was sleeping her dad went to her and asked her WHAT HER REAL NAME WAS (Yen jun Ling) AND THEN HE ASKED HER WHEN HER BIRTHDAY WAS. Yet she forgot it so the dad just gave her his birthday (November 30) ( Full Answer )

This is an informal unit for energy, often used for batteries. mAh = milliampere x hours. If you know how much current you will need (in milliamperes), you can divide the 4400 mAh by the amount of current, to calculate how many hours the battery will last. .
The title of Adeline Yen Mah's autobiography is Falling Leaves. Adeline was born on November 30, 1937 in the Republic of China. The autobiography was first published in 1997 and made the New York Times Bestseller list.
1000 milliamps (1000 ma) is equal to 1 amp or 1a. So if you mean ma, than the answer is one. But, a milliamphour, or mah, does not equal any amp or amps. That is because an amps current is instantaneous, but an amphour is an amp delivered for one hour, or 1/10th amp delivered for 10 hours.
