USA Today quotes Peggy LeMone, senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, as saying that a thunderstorm cloud contains approximately 275 million gallons of water. (http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/askjack/archives-thunderstorms.htm} NOAA's National Weather Service says, "One inch of rain over one square mile equals 17.4 million gallons of water weighing 143 million pounds (about 72,000 tons), or the weight of a train with 40 boxcars." The average thunderstorm produces about 2,000metric tons(220,000 short tons) of rain, but large storms can produce 10 times more rainfall. Large, organized storms that are associated with mesoscale convective systems can generate 1010 to 1012 kg of rainfall.

Your average storm cloud does not hold any rain drops. It contains water vapor. Once the vapor forms a rain drop, the cloud can no longer hold it and it falls out of the cloud.

Where to go in case of a thunderstorm?

Thunder stormss! Great question, during a thunder storm, that loud bang is caused by lightening hitting the ground, so the best place to be is inside or in a car, some where where you will not get shocked by electricity. NOT in an open field, the bets thing to do if you are inside during a thunder storm is to read a good book and keep as many electronics off as possible

However some experts say its depending on the heated temperature high up in the atmosphere that storms can actually cause many different storm colored skies. For instance, tornadoes usually can cause a green yellowish color when approaching.

Why do dog shiver when they a lightning storm?

Thunder scares dogs for many reasons. Number one, their hearing is so much better than ours which makes the noise ten times louder. Also, the fact that they cannot see it probably makes them scared as well. My oldest dog was absolutely terrified of thunder because a tree had fallen over in our yard during a storm. She thought that every time thunder hit, a tree would fall. Now, after many years, she is not as afraid.
