as of February 2012 there are 9 still alive.. 5 in Washington state 1 in Utah 1 in Oklahoma 2 in Savannah, Georgia and 1 in Iowa. On August 31, 2012, one of the last survivors, Senior Master Sergent Thomas Louis Davis died in his sleep and at home near his wife Rose. Tom was 90 years old. He had suffered greatly from his POW years, but died a great man with a Bronze Star and 2 clusters as well as a Purple Heart. Another of the survivors in Savannah died last winter.

9921 Americans started the march, 650 did not survive. At the end of the war the number of survivor's from Bataan range from 1300 - 3000. We started the war with 31,095 soldier's in the Philippines.
If you want to read some books on Bataan try "Bataan: The March of Death" by Stanley Falk. Another book that touches on Bataan, the Death March, hell ships and POW camps is "The Hike into the Sun" by Bernard FitzPatrick. A difficult and fairly expensive book to find. You can sign up to eKindle on Amazon and buy the download to your computer for $9.99. Also, try the library, you may get lucky.
