My ring-neck dove would lay an egg probably every 2 weeks if the egg was removed. This can cause a calcium deficiency if they continuously are laying eggs. I read online to place a small wooden egg in the nest for her to sit on to keep from laying her own- it worked.

Doves and pigeons (Columbiformes) start breeding subject to food availability and light levels and can be seasonal or year-round, so the answer is not a simple one. When they do start breeding, clutch size can be 1 - 2 eggs (occasionaly 3) -- fruit eating species usually only have one egg. Incubation is 11 - 30 days, and fledging is 10 - 36 days. Five broods in one season is not unusual, due to the short breeding cycle.

The normal amount of eggs that a dove lays is usually two. However, some of them will lay their eggs in the nest of another pair, which can lead to three or four eggs in one nest.

Captive doves, no clue. But wild doves usually lay two. Sometimes even three or four. I got four mourning dove eggs in a nest in my backyard. Kinda rare though.
