The number of floors depends on the skyscraper. There is currently no clear definition of a skyscraper; that is to say, it is not specified how tall something must be to be a skyscraper. As such, skyscrapers are usually just considered above average height buildings. Back in the 1800s the eight story tall Equitable Life Building in New York was considered a skyscraper, whereas now, eight stories is no grand feat. Today most buildings people consider skyscrapers as being over 500 feet tall. Taking into account that each story is roughly 10 feet tall, that would mark a skyscraper as being at least 50 stories.
