The 960 mAh battery rating is an eight-hour rating. This means you can expect eight hours of operation at 120 mA. Even though mAh means milli-ampere-hour, the rating is non-linear, and it is normalized to an eight-hour rating, so you should expect somewhat less than one hour of operation at 960 mA.
Keep in mind that this is a relativistic rating, intended to be used to compare similar batteries with different mAh ratings. Actual performance could vary

mAh = milliamp hours, which is battery capacity
You simply divide the MAH of your battery the MAH of your charger. For example my battery is 1500 MAH and my charger is 250 MAH. 1500/250=6 which means I have to charge my battery for six hours.
This is an informal unit for energy, often used for batteries. mAh = milliampere x hours. If you know how much current you will need (in milliamperes), you can divide the 4400 mAh by the amount of current, to calculate how many hours the battery will last.
mAH stands for milliamp-hours. It is a measure of the power capacity of a battery. If a battery has a mAH rating of, say, 480mAH, it means the battery can supply 480 milliamps for one hour, or 960 milliamps for a half-hour, or 240 milliamps for two hours, etc.
it takes about 18 hours to charge.(1.2x(Mah of battery)/300

1432 mah battery
Not really. 6000 mah means the battery has a capacity of 750 (6000 / 8) ma for 8 hours, while 7800 mah means the battery has a capacity of 975 (7800 / 8) ma for 8 hours.
It is the capacity of the battery, measuring the amount of current that can be supplied for a number of hours. For example, a 600 mAh battery can supply a current of 60 mA for 10 hours, or 40 mA for 15 hours, etc., before it needs recharging. So if you get a battery with a higher mAh rating, it will last longer.
These figures represent capacities of use for batteries. If a device uses 50 mA an hour on a 800 mAH battery, the device would operate for 16 hours before depleting the battery. If the same device was connected to a 700 mAH battery, the device would operate for 14 hours before depleting the battery.
It can run about 1,200-2400 mAh.
