In actuality, each individual has personal sleep needs that depends on many factors, including their schedule and amount of physical activity. However, if you were to visit a physician, he would most likely recommend 6-8 hours daily. If you do not receive this much rest, you might be able to function normally with 4 to 5 hours a night, but anything less than that is unhealthy to the human body. Remember, sleep is the time in which your body repairs itself from the day's activities, and therefore it is a vital component of life. Also, sleeping 9-10 hours isn't necessarily healthy either, so make sure to limit yourself if needed.
