Epitaphs are short poems or lines meant to be sculpted or inscribed on burial tomb stones or tomb walls. Naturally they would be short. But if the tomb is built as large as the Taj Mahal in India, there are no limitations to the length of epitaph poems. Usually they are not meant to be published otherwise.
