There is an infinite number of possible longitudinal lines. But the total number of degrees is 360; 180 east and 180 west. There are 60 minutes in a degree and 60 seconds in the minute. How you sub-divide from there gives infinite possibilities. There are usually 36 lines of longitude on the globe or a map, located at 10 degrees longitude apart.

i think there are 360 longitude because earth's shape like an orange so 180degree west longitude and 180 east longitude meats from each other so there one longitude line so calculation is 179+179+greenwich line+180degree longitude=360 longitude lines

That's like asking "How many lengths are on a ruler ?"

There are an infinite number of different longitudes. If you name two of them, then

no matter how close together yours are, I can always name another longitude ...

or two or three or a hundred ... that are between the ones that you named. So

there's no limit to the number of different longitudes.

Many globes and maps have some longitudes printed on them. They may print one

every 10 degrees, or every 15 or every 30 degrees. The selection is not the same

on all globes. And some globes have no longitudes at all printed on them.

The same discussion also applies to latitudes as well, too.

Longitude lines do not run around the earth. Longitude lines are 360 imaginary lines equally spaced around the planet, each line having end points at the north and south poles.

None do. Each meridian of constant longitude is a semi-circle,

joining the north and south poles.

How many lines of east and west longitude make up the earth?

There are 180 degrees of east longitude and 180 degrees of west longitude, for a grand total of 360 degrees of longitude around the Earth. You're free to draw as few or as many 'lines' through that range on your map or globe as you feel will make you comfortable. There is no standard set of 'lines' that everone is required to use.

Parts of the globe?

There are two different types of lines: lines of latitude and lines of longitude (also called meridians). The lines of latitude go around the globe horizontally. The center line is the Equator. Lines of longitude go around the globe vertically. The center one is called the Prime Meridian. These different lines together form a grid on a globe that's used to find locations of Earth's surface. The Equator and the Prime Meridian also divide the Earth into Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western hemispheres.

How many degrees does the equator have?

The Equator is the latitude line with a given value of 0-degrees. There Equator runs completely around the Earth. There are 360-longitude lines that intersect the Equator.

What direction of longhitude?

If you have a map or globe with some longitude lines printed on it, you'll find that they stay where they are and do not move from day to day. Regardless of how many there may be on your particular map or globe, each of them has the same length ... about 12,500 miles ... and joins the north and south poles.
