2 MOH were awarded for actions in Mogadishu. They were both posthumously awarded to Gordon and Shughart for their actions to protect the Pilot of a downed Blackhawk Helecopter. Both men were fatally wounded while protecting Chief Warrent Officer Michael Durrant who, while captured, ultimately survived.
