Approximately 250 men.

An Infantry Rifle Company of a standard infantry division consisted of 3 Infantry Platoons and 1 Weapons Platoon and was commanded by a Captain with a radio operator as support.

Each Infantry Platoon of 3 Rifle Squads of 9 to 12 men. The Weapons Company was equipped with 2 Squads of heavy Machine Guns and 3 squads of 81mm Mortars.

AnswerThe real situation is much more complex, as it depends on the time period in question, the army in question, and the exact purpose of the company. For instance, in the modern US Army, a tank company has about 170 men, while a Mechanized (Heavy) company has over 200, and a Light Infantry company has somewhat more. Specialized artillery, support, or headquarters companies can easily have twice times as many people as a Light Infantry company. US Marine Corps Infantry companies will generally have about 10% more than a US Army Light Infantry company. In other eras, a company could consist up to 400 people. Nations other than the US have varying numbers too, according their military philosophy.

Overall, a good estimate is that a modern-day COMBAT company from most nations will have somewhere between 150-300 people, and a support/HQ/medical/etc. company will have 400-500.

The US Infantry Rifle Company had a bout 250 men. The Rifle Company included 3 Rifle Platoons and one Heavy Weapons Platoon. The Rifle Platoon included two 9-12 man Squad. The Heavy Weapons Platoon was equipped with 2 heavy Machine Guns squads and two 81mm Mortar squads. A Rifle Squad was lead by an NCO and were typically equipped with 10 M-1 Garands and one with a Sniper Rifle M-1903 and one BAR man. Companies of other type units were different. An Airborne company was smaller. Then there were engineer companies and MP companies and many others. British and German Companies were different. A German infantry company had more fire-power than a US company as they were equipped with more machine pistols and light machine guns.

There were many million who fought in World War 2. I am talking about at least 20 million people worldwide served and fought in World War 2. I have attached a web link that has charts of how many served in the war and died and were injured.

On this link it only shows the amount of people who served in Germany, the US, the UK, The Soviet Union and Another Country.

It does not show how many Chinese, Italians, Polish, French, etc. served in that war. So you will see why I say at LEAST 20 million took part in the war.

How many soldiers were in a troop for World War 2?

A "troop" would normally indicate a single unit of a body of troops. However, the military use is as a subunit equivalent to a "platoon" consisting of two or more squads. A modern infantry platoon would typically be between 15 and 30 soldiers, and a squad between 8 and 12 soldiers. In World War 2, however, the basic rifle squad consisted of 12 men, and there were usually 3 squads per platoon, which with command personnel made a platoon (troop) 45 to 50 men, commanded by a commissioned officer.(With a squad leader and assistant squad leader, and two or more heavy weapons, such as the BAR and submachine gun, a squad would often split up and engage tactically in 6-man teams.)
