This is impossible to know, although some may know how to make an educated guess. We don't know the precise number of stars in the Milky Way galaxy, and we are just now learning how to locate planets orbiting relatively close stars. So far, the planets we have discovered are very large and Jupiter-like. This is not because that is the only kind of planet there is outside of our own system; it's because the very large and relatively near-by planets are the only ones we can currently detect. It may be thousands of years before we have a decent idea how many moons there are in our galaxy. We may never know.

their are 88 official constellations in the milky way

2nd Answer:

In a sense, none. Constellations are images of things in the sky based on the pattern of stars. The one I can always find is the Big Dipper and Small Dipper. I can find Polaris, the north star.

So, two things you should know:

1. The stars making up the constellations that we see are moving. All stars are moving with respect to each other. After a large number of years, the stars, including Polaris, will have moved enough that we cannot see the familiar constellations, anymore. The Big Dipper will not point to Polaris, because the star(s) in both will have moved away. The other constellations will also have moved enough to destroy the images we think we see. But . . . new constellations will be seen and identified from the new positions of the moving stars. A common things that happens faster enough that we can see it happening is cloud formations. Quite often I can make out patterns in clouds that look like . . . something or someone. Then the clouds move, and the "image" I thought I saw totally changes.

2. If you were to move your observation post to a different location, say to Ganymede, one of the larger moons of Jupiter, you would see none of the constellations that you see from Earth. If you move about the galaxy, you would find points of observations, perhaps other planets, where the stars are in wildly different places, and Earth constellations (a product of our minds) would not exist. Other constellation would exist to the observer there, though, but not the Earth ones.

To illustrate this, suppose you are outside and looking down the street. If you squinted your eyes juuust right, you might imagine you see what looks like an image of a dog composed of a grease spot near you, combined with a street sign several blocks aways, combined with a shape of a building a 1.2 miles away, combined with a bug splatter on your windshield. At just that one place do these things look like dog. Move to the other side of the street, and the image parts do not line up to look like a dog, anymore.

That's how it works in the galaxy, too.
