Why don't people just speak one language for easy communication? There is not an answer for it. However, there are many Chinese languages, they are branches of Old Chinese, like Latin has Spanish French Italian German etc, such as:Cantonese, Foochowese, Hakka, Taiwanese and Shanghainese etc. Languages came from life, it is a main part of life that could communicate with others and it is a root of people. Just like English originated in England, Russian in Russia, etc. The originated language is more than likely going to be the most widely spoken in the coutnry.
