It depends on the year. 1989 - 1994 Geo Metros will usually get 35mpg city/50 mpg Highway. 1995 - 2001 will get anywhere from 30mpg city/ 45 mpg highway. If you have the super rare 1991 - 1994 Geo Metro XFI that I have you can get up to 60 mpg. These are all based on Geo Metros with stickshifts.
I get 44mpg city & 50 hwy on my 1995 Geo Metro, 4 cyl.
About 39-44 MPG
According to studies done by the federal government, the 1993 Geo Metro gets 38 MPG (miles per gallon) in the city and 45 MPG on the highway. The estimated annual fuel cost is $944.
There are many factors and way to increase the MPG in your Metro. Tire pressure, timing, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter. I also found this place to be very helpful http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?t=17057
Probably, but I wouldn't try that. It may overload the Metro's tiny electrical system if it is a first generation model 1988-1994. Plus, it would lower your MPG on such a high MPG car.
Can you swap a 93 Geo metro manual transmition with a 95 Geo Metro
I have a 93 Prizm and I get 26 mpg overall.
