We do not know if there were any other babies born in a stable on the night Jesus was born, as it is not recorded in The Bible. Bethlehem was a very crowded place during this time of registration and lodging was hard to come by. But God gave the shepherds enough information to find the Christ Child in the right place.

What was in the stable when Jesus was born?

AnswerIn Luke's Gospel, Mary and Joseph travelled from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a census. When they found no room in the inn, they stayed in a stable, where Jesus was born (Luke 2:7). In Matthew's Gospel, this was not necessary because Bethlehem was already the home town of Mary and Joseph, and they had a house (Matthew 2:11).

Why was jesus placed in a manger?

God entered the the world as a poor boy would. This was to teach the lesson that God does not care about a person's position in this world he is only interested in those that follow his word and it doesn't take money or anything else to do that. The rejection of Jesus at the time of His Incarnation, being lain on the wood of a manger (a feeding trough, not the "barn or shed) vs. the rejection of Jesus at the point of his death, being lain on the wood of the cross. "born of the virgin Mary" ... " ...suffered under Pontius Pilate, crucified, died and was buried. On the third day he rose from the dead..."
