She had an argument with her boyfriend! She marched out of the house and went to the pub. To take her mind off the quarrel, she started to think about Harry Potter. She decided that sport was a uniting factor in every society, so she would invent a wizarding sport. She spent the evening working out all the rules for the game, then spent ages choosing a name for it. She knew the word had to begin with Q, and she says "Quidditch" is the best word she ever thought up. In her own words: "I don't really know what the connection is between the row and Quidditch, except that Quidditch is quite a violent game, and maybe in my deepest darkest soul I would quite like to see him [the boyfriend] hit by a bludger."

Back in the 11th century, it was documented by Gertie Keddle that wizards were "Playing a stupid game on their broomsticks." later indicating there was a big leather ball ... which landed in her cabbages. It all progressed from there. ~Quidditch Through the Ages, Kennilworthy Whisp (~J.K. Rowling)
J.K. Rowling has written 3 short spinoff books: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and the Tales of Beadle the Bard.
she lends "Quidditch Through The Ages" thanx :-)
The Knowledge of how Quidditch came into the wizarding world is all thanks to Gertie Keddle who kept a diary of what she saw. According to her diary entries we can conclude that the first Qudditch players met on Queerditch Marsh to play. She describes the creators as "broomstick idiots". Even after reading Quidditch through the Ages you will never learn the names of the founders of the game. However for the full story of how the game came into existence see chapter 3 of QUIDDITCH THROUGH THE AGES.
They are making a movie from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It should be in the theaters in fall of 2016. If it does well, we might expect to see movies based off of other books, such as Quidditch Through the Ages.

A direct excerpt from Quidditch through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp. "We owe our knowledge of the rude beginnings of Quidditch to the writings of the witch Gertie Keddle, who lived on the edge of Queerditch Marsh in the eleventh century." From this excerpt, the name for Quidditch comes directly from the name of the area it was seen to be played.
