As many as it can handle (how big it is). And adding partitions does not make more space.

It's like putting a brick wall in the middle of a football field. :-P

This is depend on your disk style, if your disk is MBR, you could only create four primary partitions or three primary partitions with one Extended partition (you could create many logical partition under extended partition) at most

If your disk style is GPT, you could create as many as you can.

here is an article about how to make partition from

Only one extended partition can be added using a DOS fdisk or Windows XP or 2000. This partition can be divided into 60 logical drives.

Partitions can be added and removed by the user, they are not fixed (though generally messing with partition tables will require a format of the drive).

As far as I know, there can be infinite partitions. Obviously it depends on the size of the hard drive but I know you can easily get 5 partitions on a single hard drive

What is meat by partitioning?

It means to make a single Hard Drive into many. When you buy any hard drive it is used normally as one partition. After you format it you can change the partitioning into different sizes you want. You can make a 500 gig hd into five 100gig partitions (it would show up as 5 different hd icons) or two 250 gig partitions, (it would show up as 2 hard drives) etc. The down fall of having partitions is if the hard drive died ALL the partitions die with it. The partitions are still part of ONE hard drive.

How many partitions do dynamic disks have?

Partitions are not something that are the same from drive to drive, or from computer to computer. Partitions are created by the user from unused hard drive space, and have no set size, although there is a relatively small minimum. This means that even one one disk, a user can create literally dozens, if not hundreds.
