One person died of a heart attack in the September 2010 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, but this incident could not be definitively linked to the earthquakes. However, in the Christchurch earthquakes that occurred six months later, in February 2011, the death toll was 185.
So far the death toll is 75 people. However, because many people are STILL under buildings etc, the death count could rise.

The Christchurch in New Zealand, had an earthquake of a 4.8 magnitude which happened on March 6, 2011 3:43am. This was an aftershock of the last months earthquake, February 22, 2011 which was 6.3.
It was a 6.3 on the Richter scale.
