The figures tend to vary each year though official figures say around 2700 people have successfully completed. In the year 2004 alone, the figures say around 1400 people have tried to climb the mountain with people of 20 different countries.
History names the first people ever to climb this mountain were Sir Edmund Hilary of NZ and his guide, Tenzing Norgay in 1953. This is what has been documented, but there is also a report stating two English nationals have reached the peak of this mountain in the year 1924. The Nationals were Mailory and Ervine.
