Since the New Zealand soldiers who served in World War 2 is too numerous to include all here, I will only cite the divisions that participated. All in all, The New Zealand Government committed 140,000 for the Allied war effort and an additional 100,000 for Home Guard duty. The government named its expeditionary force as the "2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force" or the 2NZEF. It also made available to the RAF 30 medium sized Wellington bombers. Once on the combat zone, it participated in the Greek campaign, especially in the Battle of Crete, where the New Zealanders sustained 671 dead, 967 wounded and 2,180 captured. They later participated in the North African campaign, where their total losses are 2,989 killed, 7,000 wounded and 4,041 taken prisoner. The last campaign the European 2NZEF participated in was the invasion of Italy.

After Japan entered the war, the New Zealand government deployed another group of New Zealand soldiers, known as the 2NZEF on the Pacific (2NZEF IP). However, the 2NZEF (IP) never fought as an independent group, but fought along with the Allied soldiers in the Solomons, Treasury Islands and Green Island. It was later used as personnel for service in the 2nd Division in Italy or was used to cover manpower shortages.

The New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy also fought in the naval war, with the HMNZS Achilles fighting against the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee in the Battle of the River Plate. Meanwhile, the RNZN cruiser HMNZS Leandersunk the Italian auxiliary cruiser Ramb I near the Maldives. The Navy also deployed the minesweeper HMNZS Gale followed by the corvettes Moa, Kiwi, Tui, Rataand Muritai. They initially served as troop-convoy escorts, but engaged two submarines and the Japanese cruiser Jintsu.

That's all about the New Zealand soldiers in World War 2. I hope I answered the question. Thanks :D
