If you are just doing an oil change then 3.3 quarts. If you are doing a complete overhaul where you are taking the engine covers off perhaps to change them or the gaskets then you need 3.8 quarts. This is directly out of the owners manual.

A 2000 Dodge Durange with 4.7L V8 engine requires 6.0 quarts of oil when you're doing a filter change.
If you are just doing an oil change, it is 1.7 US quarts. After engine disassembly it is 2.0 US quarts. This is taken directly from my repair manual.
