Asylum or Convention refugees are also accepted if their application meets the requirements of the New Zealand authorities. There is no set quota for this type of refugee. Any refugees from Afghanistan accepted by New Zealand will have met one or other of the sets of criteria.

Taking up refugees is a humanitarian cause but can also get us skilled workers and we can assimilate more knowledge and culture furthering our own.
