Given the marketing guidelines provided by Apple, 16GB should hold approximately 4,000 songs. If you're referring to the iPod Touch, that capacity would be a bit lower, since the iPod Touch's base software takes up more formatted space on the device's memory than that of the iPod nano.

Since MP3's size change according to length of the song and quality this is just an approximation.

But, with an average length of 4MB/Song :

16Gb = 16*1024Mb = 16384 Mb

So: 16384 Mb / 4 = 4096 Songs

PS: Remeber also, that most devices says 16Gb, but actually the have quite less memory, for example, mi iPod 8Gb, actually has only 7Gb to load stuff to it.

Hope this helps!

The amount of songs that memory will hold depends on the length of the song. A 16 gb memory can hold around 3500 songs.

An average MP3 at 128 KBPS is 4.5mb so your looking at 16000mb divided by 4.5 which is around 3555 Songs. or 350 albums
