Hajj is a tradition established by Hazrat Abraham (Ibraheem in Arabic) as per command of Almighty Allah Karim. Hazrat Ibraheem (AS) built Ka'aba and announced to the people (born or still unborn) to come to Ka'aba to perform Hajj. Thus Hajj was started from the age of Hazrat Ibraheem (AS). Hajj is performed during the last month of the Islamic calendar. The schedule is as under, this is how Hajj is performed in different stages: All these rituals teach unconditional obedience to Allah Almighty. They teach equality, simplicity, sacrifice, tolerance and charity etc.
So many people have performed Hajj 7 or more times.
Hajj used to be performed even before the birth of the last prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad SAW). Life for the traders became more profitable after the advent of Islam.

Hazrat Muhammad SAW performed only one Hajj. He performed Umra Qaza (Because of Hudaibia, in 6the A.H, the Muslims could not perform Umrah.) in Shawaal 7 a.h. The next was in Ramazan of 8 a.h. at the conquest of Mecca. Anad then the last that he performed during Hajj in 10 A.H.
Muhammad (may peace be upon him) performed Hajj only once. This Hajj is also known as "Hijjat-ul-Widaa".
