His first marriage was deemed invalid since his wife had not divorced her first husband when she married Jackson. When her first marriage was finally over, she remarried Jackson, this time legally. They remained married until her death just before he was inaugurated as president.

∙ 11y agoAndrew Jackson was in fact married twice. His first marriage to Rachel Donelson Robards took place in 1791 when he was 24yrs old and ended in 1794. This marriage was technically a bigamist one as she had never divorced her first husband. With this problem solved he remarried her in 1794.
