You should feel it shift from 1st to 2d then 2nd to 3rd. It is a three speed transmission so it will shift twice.

Why does the clutch pedal on your pick up feel soft and its harder to shift gears?

If you have a pickup that has a soft clutch and its harder to shift gears you probably have a problem with your transmission. You should check your transmission fluid, make sure its full, and if that doesn't help you will have to take it to a mechanic.

What is meant by harsh shift in automatic transmission?

A harsh shift on a transmission is when the driver of a vehicle can hear or feel the gearbox shifting. Sometimes the gearbox will lock and not shift causing the rev limiter to reach the red line. When it finally shifts the car will shake and jolt forward.

What kind of a car can I get that has both the auto transmission but you can still shift it if you want to?

The new Chevrolette Corvette has an automatic transmission but it also has a paddle shifter so you can get the feel of having to shift. It will help you save on gas and give you more speed if you want it.

Should you be in Drive or Overdrive when drive?

actually you should have an automatic in highest gear on column as possible that's what the computer is for it determines what gear you should be in if you have a manual transmission then read owners manual it will tell you when the correct times to shift from one gear to the next for fuel economy and engine life first, not all cars have computers ,second if it is an automatic, it does not matter if car is in overdrive.the transmission will choose which gear is needed for the speed and load if a manuel transmission, the driver can hear and feel whether the car is in the right gear for the driving conditions

Why does the gear shift knob of a Nissan sentra vibrates when speeding?

How bad is the vibrating? If you simply feel the vibrations when handling the knob but it doesn;t shake other times, it's just the machinery inside the transmission resonating throughout the shift linkage. If the knob simply moves without you feeling it, then you could have suspension problems in which vibrations are resonating up to the shift knob. Also, your shift linkage may be slightly loose.

How do you know if the transmission is going in a car?

Can you shift gears? IF you can its at least working. I guess your question means the opposite. So if you feel slippage when shifting gears or cannot operate in one gear (reverse, for example), the transmission is about to give out.

What might be the cause for 1995 ford Taurus with 3 Liter V6 and automatic transmission to feel slipping or sluggish when starting to shift from first to second then shifts hard when the gear changes?

The first thing I would do is change the transmission filter and fluid and have the transmission flushed. This is the cheapest thing you can do to remedy the problem, and it should be done every few years. I hope this helps you. Mark
