Minimal - less than a hundred Union troops the lot, and not many more on the Confederate side.
The outrage was about damage to property, and some violence against unarmed citizens, mostly not carried out by Sherman's men but by the mounted vandals (including deserters from both sides) who rose alongside the army for the pickings during this picnic-spree across the rich farmland of Georgia.
