All US states are south of the Canadian border except Alaska and even Alaska is south of Nunavut in Canada.

However, there are 27 states that include areas farther north than the southernmost point of Canada, which is Middle Island in Lake Erie (41° 41' N, 82° 41' W).

Only 23 states lie entirely south of that position. They are Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado / Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas / Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana / Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida / North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky / Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. All other US states include areas farther north, including states in the West and in New England.
