In general, there is no expiration date for general education courses. These would include English literature, History, Social Sciences, Humanities, Written and Oral communication etc. However, this is not to say that some departments within a college or university do not have cut off dates particular to their program of study. For example, some Health and/or Allied Health departments have a ten year cut off for the exact sciences. Some have a seven year cut off, while others may have a five year cut off.
