There are several schools across the world.

In the USA:

Westwood College

Art Institue of Pittsburgh

Academy of Art University

In Canada:

Vancouver Institute of Media Arts

International Academy of Design and Technology

Sheridan College

Loyalist College

Vancouver College of Art and Design

Concordia University

In Australia:

Davenport University

Griffith University

There are some more but many of these are the best places to go for studying Animation. Different schools are better for different things. General animation (learning all animation related skills) are better found in Colleges whereas theory is better learned in University. I suggest college because of their practical take on learning and you get in to the software right on the first day.

Most people who are animators would probably attend an art or design school after high school. Their area of study might be a straight animation program, or a combination of film and digital media production that teaches animation skills. You can also learn animation skills within the curriculum of a game design degree program.

You could probably be prepared to pursue very, very basic job openings-- assistant-type jobs-- with an associate degree. They usually take two years of full-time study.

Or you could pursue a bachelor degree and learn skills that should get you ready to compete for entry-level jobs. Bachelor's degrees are designed to be finished in four years of full-time study.
