I have a 1997 Toyota Camry. It is leaking anti-frezze. I need to replace the water pump. Do I have to remove and replace timing belts too?
Answering "How do you replace the water pump on a 1994 Toyota Camry?"
It's recommended to change the water pump at the time when you replace the timing belt.
I just replaced the timing chain for my 2000 Camry. I did the same thing for my last Camry, a 1996. The timing chain goes after the water pump bearings fail and jams everything up. Then I had to replace the timing belt, water pump, and all belts.
buy a repair manual, because you have to take a few things off to replace the water pump including the timing belt, which should also be replaced.gmjim
2000 Toyota Celica have timing chains.
how do you install a water pump on a 1992 toyota camry
You are looking at a bill from $250 to up to $700 depending on garage, whether you are going to replace the water pump (you better) and so on.
Belt. Recommended replacement mileage: 90,000 miles. Do yorself a favor and replace the water pump at the same time.
Timing belt tensioner, and its spring. Oil seals for both camshaft and crankshaft. And it's highly recommended to replace the water pump.
I would gees $ 60- $150
It's recommended to do when you are replacing the timing belt.
on the 3S-FE engine, you will have to remove the engine from the car, then pull the cover off where the timing belt is. The water pump is inside there. It's a JOB.
The timing belt has to be removed to access the water pump. Once the pump is replaced the timing belt has to be replaced and set.
It depends on town, from my experience $200-500, if you want to change the water (which is reasonable) pump $400-600.
The same way you change the timing belt. the water pomp runs off the timing belt. It,s a pain in the butt.
No Camry has ever had a v4 engine. There is a v6 and an inline 4 cylinder. The timing cover typically needs to be removed making it an ideal time to also replace the timing belt. this is a fairly complicated job and is often best left to a qualified technician.
You do not need to, but it's highly recommended. If water pump fails after you change the belt, you will have to do the same work as before to replace the pump.
The water pump is driven by the timing belt.
The water pump is run off of the timing belt. Remove the front cover, you will need to support the motor and take off the passenger side motor mount. With the cover off, mark the timing belt both on the crankshaft and the cam. so you can replace it without worring about the timing. Loosen the tension pully and take the belt off the water punp. Change the pump and replace the belt and cover.
I spent $450 about 3 years ago on this
have no idea
No, it is not. But the cost of labor is so high that is a good idea to do it as well. There are times when you need to do it though. Check how close you are to next timing belt change. See if water pump has any leaks. Check condition of the timing belt.
In order to replace the water pump on a 1988 Toyota Camry v4, first remove the front timing belt cover as well as the motor mount on the passenger's side of the vehicle. In order to remove the mount, the engine must be supported. Before removing the timing belt, mark the camshaft and crankshaft for guidance during replacement. Remove the water pump, and apply new gaskets to the new water pump with a sealant. Install the new pump, then the hardware that had been removed in order to access the pump.
