A definitive answer to the value of any firearm is impossible without data such as barrel wear, overall condition, and potential part mismatches (several manufacturers made M1 parts). More information would be required to answer this question, and without an experienced, impartial opinion as to condition, only a general (and wide) range of values is available.
Also, if the rifle has any verifiable history (unit it was assigned to, specific soldier who carried it, etc.) it's value could double or triple.
Check to see if the Civilian Marksmanship Program has any M1 rifles for sale. They will generally provide a reference point for what a functional, but not necessarily collectible rifle is worth.

The M1 Garand was the standard issue rifle of US forces during the Second World War. However, the issue of the M1 hadn't been fully implemented at the onset of the war, so many units (particularly in the Pacific) were still equipped with the M1903, and a number of the Iver Johnson rifles were also issued throughout the Armed Forces in order to supplement the Garand.
If the Americans were fighting in the battle the M1 Garand was there also. In the pacific and European theatre they were used in every battle America was in in the second world war. While the above is generally true regarding the European theatre, but at the outbreak of the war, there were several units which still had not fielded the Garand yet, particularly in the Marine Corps. The first battles in the Pacific saw units armed primarily with the Springfield M1903, rather than the Garand.
M1-Garand is used in Vietnam. And thats about it.
