Can male guinea pigs be housed with baby guinea pigs about 8 weeks?

I'm not quite sure but I think it's the same with male hampsters. When a female has her litter(for hampsters) you absolutly MUST keep the male away from the litter or he will start to eat the babies. I am sure that is the same with guinea pigs. My suggestion is do that just to be safe. I'm not quite sure but I think it's the same with male hampsters.
