We use a variety of factors to determine how much a network tech makes in our shop. *Credentials (as long as they are valid) *Experience *Performance All of these are pretty obvious, the first one seems to be the most sticky for a lot of people. It's no good to have a tech apply for a job that has his MCSE(apparently) and can't explain what the OSI model is. It would be like having a mechanic work on your car that can't describe what a spark plug is for. All that being said, a journeyman tech(not a senior tech), could probably make a comfortable $35 - $45,000 /year here in Alberta, Canada. Cheers!
i work for Verizon communications and our max rate is about 31.50 an hour but with overtime a telephone technician can make about six figures a year
I don't doubt the 31.50 an hour figure but if you work for a non-union company you're looking at making about half that. Any of these small businesses that install computer networking systems or business telephones are not likely union companies. I'm in South Dakota and the starting pay is 13.00 and hour with a .50 or 1.00 an hour raise after a year.
...I also work for Verizon and yes we are Union so our max is 31.50 and like the other tech said you can make six figures in a good overtime year. I personally haven't only because of my family responsibilities..but having said that I usually make around $80k a year without any atextreme amount of overtime....there are certainly guys in our yard that hit $100,000+ a year. .........They also get paid double time for Sundays......get time and a half for the first 9 hours of O.T.and double time after that.........I retired in '99 when the hourly rate was only $26 and my last year I made over $100k,but my 31 year pension is only $30k but free medical insurance
a computer technician can make between 15 - 20 $ a hour in my experience as a computer technician way back when
Starting out of college with a Associates Degree in Network Administration at PCT I'm making about 16/hr in a little local town.
I've found 60,000 a year is the starting point according to my college
average $9-15 depending on where you work
How much money a validation technician can earn depends on their experience, qualifications and the location. A validation technician earns on average 92,680 US dollars per year.
