If 1 gal of vegetable oil weighs 7.6lb then the formula to convert to 1 cup is

7.6 lb/gal X 1 gal/128 fl oz* X 8 fl oz/1 cup = 0.475 lb/cup.

*don't confuse liquid oz (fluid oz) with dry oz (oz). One is volume and the other is weight. They are not interchangeable.

From what I found the density of olive oil, which probably is a similar density to vegetable oil, is about 7.64 lb/gallon. So 1 gallon of vegetable oil will weigh approximately 7.6 lbs. Crude corn oil (Vegetable oil) weighs 7.7 lbs per gallon
