They do not hurt at all! I remember getting mine done when I was in kindergarten and I only felt a little pinch! I do think that if you get them pierced where there is bone then it might hurt a bit more.
I just got my left ear done today! I am a 13 year old guy, and am kinda a wimp. Well, I went to Claire's, and my legs were TREMBLING! When she pulled the trigger, it was a little *click-click* and done. It wasn't even a pinch. I barely even felt it!!! It didn't sting, either! On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being death, maybe a 2. If that. I have to admit, even though most people said like a 4, I was still kinda scared. Don't be afraid! It doesn't even hurt like a pinch!

∙ 12y agoIt depends on how much pain you can endure. Getting a piercing on your lobe doesn't hurt too much while you're getting it, however its usually after when it hurts a little. Cartilages you may need to numb your ear for because its your cartilage so its like thin bone. The aftermath is painful but it eases everyday. I cannot tell you about tragus because I've never gotten one but it should be similar to a cartilage but it might hurt more.

∙ 12y agoWhen the actual stud goes through the earlobe there is no pain (but i did jump from the bang :P ) however later my ear began to sting but not too badly.

∙ 13y agoI wouldn't say it is that bad. But, if you don't like shots i wouldn't recommend getting them pierced, until, you overcome that.
